Known as idiopathic cutaneous hyperchromia of the orbital region or, commonly, “dark circles.
Periorbital hyperpigmentation(POH) factors can be genetic, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation due to allergies, nasal congestion, excessive rubbing of eye tissue, contact dermatitis, using prostaglandin analogues for eyelash growth andocular eye drops for patients with glaucoma, smoking, lack of sleep, aging, and stress.
Did You Know
Individuals who use eye drops for glaucoma or clients who use lash growth products with prostaglandin analogs can develop periorbital hyperpigmentation. Hyperpigmentation usually develops between three and six months after initiating the treatment. The likely mechanism of action is due to an increase in melanogenesis in dermal melanocytes and increased transfer of melanin granules to the basal epidermis.
However, the hyperpigmentation typically reverses when the glaucoma eye drops or lash growth product is discontinued.
Eye Contour Peel:
Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA) is a chemical peeling agent that acts on proteins in the skin and has a keratocoagulant effect that results in the appearance of a white frost on the skin. The exfoliating effect favors epidermal renewal and collagen synthesis with more uniformly distributed melanin, thus improving dermal melanosis.
L-Lactic Acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) with a moisturizing and keratolytic effect that provides exfoliation of the superficial layers of the stratum corneum by altering the cohesion of corneocytes, which leads to subsequent desquamation of the stratum corneum.
Eye Contour Peel Indications:
Indicated for treating periorbital hyperpigmentation(POH) in the eye contour area; it can also be used to treat hyperpigmentation around the lips.
Note: This peel should be used only by aesthetic professionals who have advanced chemical peel training and extensive experience with TCA peels. Detailed protocols are included with the purchase of the peel.
Features:
• Recommended for infraorbital dark circles (hyperpigmentation lower eyelid area)
• Gel formula

• Peel treatment frequency:
One series equals: a total of 4 treatments; 1 treatment every 10- 12 days.
